I recently answered a Craigslist ad of a local artist seeking a photographer to do some shots of him for a book he’s working on. It was an unpaid gig, though in exchange for my services I will get my name in the book and he will be giving me a custom piece of art well worth my time and effort. I figured it was a good way to get my name out there and get some more experience. You can never have too much experience.
Anyways, the artist, Charles Franklin, is a local illustrator who is frequently asked to do dramatic hand-drawn portraits of celebrities, politicians, entertainers, and the like. From what I can tell, he’s got quite a bit of talent and is likely to make a big name for himself in the near future. I had a great time shooting him and hanging out with him and I hope to work with him in the future.
Here are a few shots from our recent shoot:
Awesome! What was your payment?
I haven’t decided yet what I want him to draw me.
