The Last of the Fall Colors

The Last of the Fall Colors

A little less than a month ago, I went on a short afternoon hike in hopes of capturing some of the last of the Fall colors. There wasn’t much to look at in terms of overall scenery so I focused in on the few gems that remained:

Lightning Made Easy(er)

Lightning Made Easy(er)

I’ve never had much luck with lightning shots.  I usually either wait too long to get the camera out or I’m on the wrong side of my building to witness the best stuff but we recently had a nice storm and lightning was just everywhere.  The rain was blowing pretty hard and I was feeling [...]

A Bee Photo

A Bee Photo

One day we were relaxing on the balcony and for hours, there was a bumble bee that would rest on the balcony railing for minutes at a time, fly off, and return.  It was the most peculiar thing so, eventually I figured I could get close enough to take some interesting shots:

A Deer!

A Deer!

Went for a quick walk around Theodore Roosevelt Island and came across this guy.  I was probably no more than 4 feet from him when taking these photos.  It was pretty wild.

Dyke Marsh

Dyke Marsh

During a relatively pleasant March day, I got a hankering for some photo-taking and headed down to the Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve on the Potomac River just South of Old Town Alexandria.  I’d never been there before and was hoping for some nice shots of birds and pristine marshland.  Turns out I was a little [...]

Camping in December

Camping in December

For whatever reason, my friend David and I decided to head out to Shenandoah National Park and get our backpack on.  While beautiful, it was rainy, extremely windy, and cold but we got to see some pretty impressive fog.  Here are a few poor shots I took with my point-and-shoot I had with me:

Ocean City, MD and Assateague Island

Ocean City, MD and Assateague Island

Lindsey and I hit up the beach for Labor Day weekend, taking a trip to Ocean City, MD for the day.  Late that afternoon, we decided to drive down road to Assateague Island National Seashore and see the wild ponies.  Assateague is easily one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to.  Unfortunately, all [...]

A paler shade of Fall

A paler shade of Fall

Today I went to the park where I run quite often and where I often see a family of deer in hopes of capturing them with my camera.  Unfortunately I did not see any deer and it was a pretty ugly day.  What was interesting was that in this specific area, many of the trees [...]

Great Falls = Great Times.

Great Falls = Great Times.

Lindsey and I simply could not sit inside on such a beautiful day so we went back to visit Great Falls Park.  It was pretty stellar.  We hit up both the Virginia and Maryland sides of the park and in addition to hiking the Billy Goat Trail we visited both of the falls overlooks.  We [...]
